This summer I went to Reading festival and fell in love with the colours and aesthetic of The 1975's set on the main stage. Using my own footage of the event and the BBC recording, I thought this would be a great time to develop my creative editing skills within Adobe Premier Pro. Including, colour-grading, effects, transitions and musicality.
Colour Grading - As well as doing basic colour correction, I fell in love with the pink neon colour scheme that featured many times within the set, therefore I decided to experiment with colour wheels so I can add more pinks to the shadows to create a 'look' to the video, linking the footage together.
Effects - I learnt a lot about video effects so I could be more creative with this video. For example, I wanted to footage to react to a base drop. Therefore, I researched on how to use wave warp as well as using keyframes to create a earthquake effect. In addition I wanted to emphasise the bright lights of the stage therefore, I experimented until I found the Flare effect which, as the name suggests, creates a flare on the screen which makes the shots look a-lot more visually stimulating. I played around with opacity so I could feature more of the exciting parts of the event into one video.
Transitions - At the beginning I wanted the shots to follow along with the slower pace of the music, therefore I wanted the cuts to be soft compared to the sharp cuts later . Thus I used the transition called a gradient wipe. That gave me the the long transitions, creating a more dramatic sequence.
Musicality - The music for this project was very important as it determined where the cuts would happen
